CPCB issued directions under section 18(1) b of the Water and Air Acts to the SPCB & PCC for directing all the 17 categories of highly polluting industries such as Dye  Intermediate Units, Distillery, Sugar, Chloral Alkali Plants  Tanneries,, Cement, Oil Refineries, Fertilizer, Power Plants, Pulp & Paper, Pesticides, and Pharma Sector, Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETP) and STPs, along with Bio-Medical Waste Incinerators and Hazardous Waste Incinerators for installation of online effluent quality & continuous monitoring systems to help track the discharges of pollutants from these units.  Directives also required Industries & Public Utilities to install a Real-Time Water Quality Monitoring System to monitor parameters such as pH, TSS, COD, BOD, Chromium, Arsenic, Ammonia, flow etc

The Process Involved In Water Treatment:

The system includes various types of sensors like ORP analyzers, dissolved oxygen analyser,  turbidity analyser, conductivity analyser which are implemented at the site integrated to the remote monitoring system through which provide real time data on water quality eliminating the need of human intervention to collect the sample ,transporting  etc. This system will continuously transfer data  to CPCB and SPCB through cloud technology which continuously monitors effluents present in water discharge.
